I'm Pregnant!

Welcome to our family, which is about to get a little bigger. Right now it consists of me, my husband Brandon and our two cats, but growing inside me is our first child. On March 24th we found out that we were expecting a little one. I have dubbed the little one Baby Kessler until we pick out a name and find out the sex. So this, ladies and gentlemen is the public journal of first time parents and will hopefully entertain or maybe even help other first time parents out.

Brandon and I weren't exactly trying to get pregnant, but more of we just stopped not trying to. It was a happy surprise when I turned up pregnant with Baby Kessler, and we are both very excited to have a little one. At this stage of pregnancy (4 weeks) there is much to do. I already had my first prenatal doctor appointment, which everything went fine. (A big thanks goes out to my oldest sister Amanda for going with me) So at this point, it's kind of a waiting game until the next doctor appointment on April 25th, which will also be my first ultra sound.

It comes down to taking care of myself properly and doing what I can to help the baby grow and be healthy. Already there have been changes in my eating habits, I'm going for healthy snacks when I'm hungry, I'm making sure to replace my soda intake with water, and we're cooking at home now instead of being lazy and running out for fast food.  My next step is to find a way to become a little more active than I am already. I really want to find a pregnant women yoga class, or possibly water aerobics class.

So while we play the waiting game, there are some things that are baby related that need to be done, and somethings that aren't. I will be picking up over time shifts, just to help in the small money crunch that will probably come and to make sure that we have enough in savings for when Baby Kessler arrives. We are also looking at buying a house before the baby comes, that was something we were planning on doing regardless of if I was pregnant or not. We're switching banks, there are things that need to be paid off, and so much more, but the important thing is that we don't get overwhelmed.

As for the actual being pregnant part, like I said, I'm only four weeks along so there's not much I'm experiencing. I have morning sickness already, but it's more like all day sickness. I have found that a few snacks here and there help tone it down a little bit. I'm bloated, but of course I'm not showing yet. Then there is the exhaustion that I hear goes away, at least a little bit, in the second trimester.
